We’ll examine your feet, check between the toes, assess your footwear, and inquire about your medical history. Your nails and skin will be evaluated, and you will be asked if you have any concerns. By the end of the visit, you’ll receive a full assessment, have care completed, be involved in a plan, and be advised when you should have another follow-up completed.
What kind of nail care do you do?
We clip, file, and thin your nails; ingrown toenails can be removed.
If needed, we apply a callus softener, then carefully reduce any thickened skin. For corns, we smooth the surface and gently remove the buildup underneath. If your skin is dry, we’ll choose a moisturizer based on what your feet need most, something light or richer, depending on the severity.
What if I have diabetes or poor circulation?
If you have diabetes or reduced circulation, we take extra care when checking your skin, nails, and pressure points. We assess for signs of nerve damage, slow healing, and we tailor your care based on what we find. Our goal is to catch any potential issues early and help you prevent any complications.
Do you do home visits as well or is it just in clinic?
All appointments are currently home-based until we find the perfect clinic location for our clients. When you book, just provide your address and we’ll come to you.
Is there anything I should do to prepare for my appointment?
If you have the opportunity, or are able to, clean and thoroughly dry your feet, including between the toes. Please refrain from using nail polish, as it will be removed to protect our instruments. Pick a space where you can sit comfortably with your legs elevated, such as a recliner, couch, or sturdy chair with a footstool. We’ll take care of the rest.
How do I pay for my appointment?
We currently accept cash, credit, debit and e-transfer. Payment is due at the time of your appointment. You may choose to purchase a gift card beforehand if you wish, for yourself or a loved one. A receipt will be sent to the email on file.
Is this covered through OHIP or my insurance?
Currently footcare services aren't part of the services eligible for automatic coverage through insurance companies. The good news is, a copy of your reciept will be emailed to you and it can then be submitted to your insurance company after your appointment.
Tip: these services are normally found under "nursing services" when submitting a claim.
